Directed Time

I have been speaking to various colleagues, and many saying they have a staff meeting once a week until 5pm, plus morning meetings from 8am every day, and then informal meetings on other days after school (sometimes meeting parents, meeting subject leaders) etc etc. This got me thinking how much of this is part of our directed time? Are schools totally abusing our contractual rights?

Your school should have a full break down of how the 1265 hours are allocated.

You can ask for it.

Yes, if this is happening then it likely isn't within directed time. Staff should collectively say no.

Directed time is 1265 hours over 195 days a year. It works out as 6.5 hours per day. Lunch isn't directed time.
