ADHD and teaching

I posted this in ND mumsnetters but no responses so I though I’d ask here.

I am really interested to hear from fellow teachers who have ADHD. How does ADHD impact your work? Negatively and positively? And does RSD impact your relationships with colleagues, or your CPD, or rapport with students or behaviour management?

I notice how my work is impacted by the executive dysfunction elements ie lateness, disorganisation, procrastination, but I have recently begun to notice the effects of RSD on my work relationships with colleagues, myself and the students. Anyone else?

Don't know what RSD is?

I am in the moment at school and I found that taking meds really didn't make any difference because I'm already pretty motivated. I do find marking books and generaly paperwork very difficult. I am currently a SENCO so masses of paperwork, I do have admin support which is a god-send and a very supportive team who I'm very honest with. On balance I'd say my ADHD is an advantage, cool under pressure, super empathetic, excellent at problem solving, get on well with (most) parents and students.

I think the only negative I feel is RSD -I really struggle to feel like I am part of the team and constantly worry that I am annoying people etc

Doesn't impact on my relationships with my students

Hyper focus means I plough through paperwork very close to deadlines

Spent today writing 36 reports, I've had 8 weeks to do it but i did it today ready for tomorrow deadline

My work life balance is shot though (see comments about reports 🤣)
