Hello,

I know I can ring them but I never have time in office hours. Does anyone know, if I go part time for the last 10 years before I retire will the part of my pension that's in the final salary scheme go down? Down from the current estimate I mean. Thanks

Hi, no I think your FS bit will remain unaffected, it will be the CA bit that it affects.

Have you seen the teachers pension page on Facebook run by David Fountain/Diddy Dave?

They will answer questions like this,

Ah thanks I'll join the group. I thought it would be the other way around. I thought the career average was banked up in chunks. Need to learn more...

I believe that the final salary takes in to account the full time equivalent pay, so it won't be effected by you going parttime.

The career average will still continue to build up, but obviously not as quickly as currently as your wage is lower.

Thanks both, that's reassuring, I've joined the Facebook group and found some of Dave's videos they are great. He must have been a very good maths teacher 😀.

He is amazing isn't he.
Look for his spreadsheets to project your pension.
