I have an interview for my dream school. I have been teaching for 5 years but the thought of interviewing still scares me. I’ve been given the task below, please help me with ideas or anything that you have done!

Please prepare a 20 minute English activity for a Year 5 class. The activity should be based on a text of your choice, with a focus on vocabulary.
You will have access to a visualiser and an Interactive Whiteboard, but you do not need to use them.

You could keep it very precise and focus on the use of vocabulary to form expanded noun phrases with pre and post modifiers.

Eg.

The dog

The evil, demonic dog with bloodstained teeth...

Gets in a vocabulary focus to engage the reader's imagination with a precise, technical grammar focus.

An expanded vocabulary wheel would be fab. Think there are some on TES and other places. So if your book has 'sad' in it you scaffold them to use words like 'glum' 'glooomy,' 'down-hearted, etc.

Did you get the job?

I did not. No bad feedback but the other candidate had more experience in multiple year groups so I have asked to be moved at my current school.
