Hi all,

The School Business Manager is retiring at the end of the academic year - a meeting with governors this week and they have highlighted instead of replacing them in their full capacity as an SBM, introduce two new roles to split - Finance Officer and Operations Officer - both roles would be part time (3 days a week) - not sure this is going to work somehow - has any other school introduced these?

Our CoG is someone who has been in post for 3 years now and likes to implement changes and consult on them even if they aren’t necessary?

The problem with that is everyone knows what an SBM is and it can become very watered down and unclear with the two roles - who leads who; which exact bits of each job is responsible for what parts. It can be difficult for staff to know who to contact and having worked with both arrangements I have to say SBM was my preferred option.
