PPA time - teacher

Can I be asked to meet with SLT during my PPA time to discuss aspects of the curriculum? If I refuse to use my PPA time for this purpose, then when should a meeting like this happen?

Are you employed under the STPCD?

ohdeerohdear · 24/02/2024 23:16

Yes I am.

Then you can be asked but not made to do it then. The question is then whether you have any additional non contact time which is not PPA.

ohdeerohdear · 25/02/2024 17:42

I have no other non-contact time. I teach 17 lessons plus 3 PPA.

Your options are limited then. They can ask - but not expect - you to meet at lunch or after school. You could ask for cover to meet during the day.

However, based on your other thread, I suggest that you should be as flexible as possible.

The PPA entitlement in the STPCD is no less than 10% of timetabled teaching time.

If all your lessons are the same length, you are getting quite a bit more than 10% PPA so it doesn't seem unreasonable to meet during one of your PPA periods, provided that the other two are protected.

Yes that makes a lot of sense. Thank you.
