Ed Tech Coach

I have been offered a job in a school as an EdTech Coach. Slight pay rise, full-time outside of the classroom. However, I only have 3 years of teaching experience post QTS and I’m unsure if this move will derail future plans to move into senior leadership positions. I’ve been given a guarantee of being able to return to the classroom should I so wish after 1 year if I felt it wasn’t right for me, which has made me lead towards accepting the post since I do have experience-interest in the field, and the opportunity may not present itself twice. I wondered if you guys may have an opinion here? Go for it or get more years of teaching experience under my belt, and why?

What's your gut feel OP?

Gut says take the jump- at worst a valuable year of experience in education from a different perspective.

Head says, what if this is a wasted 1-2 years, you’ll be another 1-2 years older.

It will be useful experience imagine?

Certainly, but fear it might not work out to be the stepping stone I hope it could be. There is an element of risk attached, but I suppose only so far as it would delay a potential move into leadership should that still be a path I’d like to pursue later. I am persuaded by the idea that education and technology may be getting particularly spotlighted now since the rapid awareness and implementation of AI, so knowledge in this area may become increasingly valued.

What exactly is the job spec? Is it a teacher contract with STPC?
