Teachers Pension Rollback Choices

Hi,
Is anyone else being asked to make a decision on the rollback choices on their TP?

I’ve read through all the documentation on the website but struggling with some of the jargon. I’m nowhere near to retirement age and I’m struggling to understand what I need to do.

I think it’s suggesting that career average is the default option over final salary. It also says the default will be the option which is best monetary wise. Has anyone completed the form and returned it? It’s also concerning me as it’s requesting bank details.

I would really appreciate any help, TIA

This was me a couple of weeks ago- couldn't make head nor tail of it. I filled out the form online and put in my bank details, then panicked thinking I had done the wrong this so rang them. From what I can gather (I'm still not 100% sure!) it's for excess service/overtime during a period of time, the amount was on the bottom of my statement and it was less than £10!

Weird. Thought we didn't have to decide until about to retire?

Thanks @bettyboo40 I've since realised that there’s actually huge gaps in my pension records when it’s not showing any contributions even though I have been paying it so I need to ask my school secretary to sort that out for me first and then I will fill in the form.

I have tried reading into this and still have no idea which one would be best to do and I can’t find a figure of how much it would be for me either. I’m inclined to just let it do the default which like you say would be the highest monetary value but really have no idea. I just want an expert to tell me which option to do!

When I called, the person talked me through it online.
On teachers pension online go to 'Your Messages'.
Then look for the message asking you to make your rollback choice.
You will find your flexibilities statement attached as a PDF.
Open this and scroll right down. I think on mine it was page 4.
I don't think it is for you to decide whether to go back to final salary or career average. You'll do that when you retire- I think!
It's about any overtime or excess service you've got from the remedy period. Mine for the period was less than £10.

Hope this helps. I took photos but it won't let me upload!

Great thanks I’ve just found it. Mine is £140. Still not entirely sure what to do though!

Filterphobia · 31/01/2024 17:39

Thanks so much, I have found mine it’s showing £18.54.

In case anyone is still wondering about this, David Fountain has done an excellent video explaining the options. After viewing it, I decided to leave my massive sum of £32 where it is, and I'll take it at the end - either through the career average, or have it refunded then!

TPS - Remedy and Overtime "Compensation"

Are you being given all the facts about the "compensation" being offered for overtime payments in the TPS remedy period...I think not!

Hello- a bit late to the game here. Ive been ignoring these rollback messages without realising it messages but as I had numerous messages in my inbox I decided to go for the compo in the end. Can I ask how soon after applying for the compo did you find out how much you were being refunded?

Where do you find the form to fill in your bank details?
