Reporting worrying situation

DC12 has told me that a classmate has said they had been forced to have sex by their boyfriend and various other details. I am doing an email to the person at the school who deals with these things, but I am so shocked and disgusted I am worried that I am not thinking straight. I have simply reported exactly what dc has said, using the same words where possible - anything else I should think of? What I have said is pretty clear and I have said it is all that I know - is it likely that the person I have emailed will want to talk further to me and/or to dc? DC doesn't know the classmate very well, ie they are not close friends. Thanks

You only know what your DC has told you - bear in mind the severity of this that the safeguarding lead will ask to speak to your child to get more information. They will probably ask you to come into school too.

Thanks for your reply - I understand that they might want to talk to DC but can you let me know why they would ask me to go in? To simply verify what I have said in the email in person?

DC has said that there is a risk of retaliation from her boyfriend's crowd, many of whom are older, and so there is a safeguarding risk for him too. They are all also a different nationality and it is really difficult to get a feel for what has happened or likely consequences.
