HLTA and feeling put upon.

I’ve been a HLTA for 4 years now and have years of TA experience before this. I’ve always enjoyed the work with primary chn and the varied work. I am covering classes across the whole school every day from schemes of work but also teacher planning depending on the subject. I don’t get ppa and find the switch from Reception to Year 6 and I between and back again, brain frazzling. I’m the only HLTA in school so have nobody I can relate to. I get home and then check my next day plans plus marking etc and just feel so underpaid and undervalued. When I’m not covering I’m a class TA but used as an assistant teacher and teach maths and English to smaller groups. The teacher divides the morning up into smaller chunks and I can be teaching 4 or 5 different groups within year groups( mixed y2/3) different work. I get in early to read and digest the planning as it’s very detailed. Anyone else feel like this? Just feels like such a lot for so little.

Teachers are out a lot for mentoring, subject lead time and training in addition to PPA so I often cover whole days in one class. There is a lot of unsupported SEN in ks1 so it’s hard work without TA support.
