Hi i am applying for a level 3 teaching assistant apprenticeship for september 2024 and i was wondering if i would be respected by the teachers because i would be 16 at the time of the apprenticeship and teaching apprentices are legally staff and have the same rights as teachers as they are both employers however would the teachers even respect me please answer honestly

Honestly I'd struggle with a 16 year old trainee TA. You need a bit of maturity to deal with situations that come up and you'd be very close in age to the children which could be a problem.
We had an 18 year old apprentice and he seemed very, very young at first but he did settle in and has made a great staff member. That would be my minimum age though, sorry not to be more positive.

I would give nothing but respect for any member of staff on school.

You would be an apprentice, the class teacher would absolutely know that and would not expect you to be a fully fledged experienced TA. The class teacher should help to support you, mentor you and recognise that you are also a student gaining you qualifications in the education sector.

Don't you worry about what others think, you concentrate on developing your career and going after your ambitions!

I would love to have an ambitious apprentice working with me in my classroom.
