Relationship with parent

I'm trying to find out if having a consensusl romantic relationship with a parent is a 'serious misconduct'. (Have never taught the student but did meet the parent through school)
I've looked through the government guidance and I tend to think not, but if anyone has any direct experience of this, particularly school leaders, I'd be grateful. Happened ages ago but ex, who wasn't even on the scene at the time, is threatening blackmail :( and says he can get me struck off. Nice

Pretty sure not but are you in a union i would ring them

Also not a legal expert in any but blackmail is illegal

The union have been a bit vague too, to be honest, but have given me a number to call, which I shall do!
They said issues can arise if the 'relationship only started because the teacher met the parent as part of their work and then pursued a relationship only through that work connection'. It happens all the time, but mostly people don't have such a vindictive ex-partner in the mix.

It's not illegal. It's not against Teacher Standards but it's frowned upon because it adds layers of complication.

Do you teach their child? That would definitely be seen as a conflict of interest.

I don't think it is illegal.

It's not illegal and you won't get struck off but it is frowned upon as it brings a whole host of issues into the equation.
