I have a TA interview this week. I have to read a book to KS2 children as part of the process. Does anyone have any recommendations what to read to them? Is the Gruffalo etc too young?

Also. Any tips for the actual interview. I get so nervous. Any key words I should use. I've done this job before and I currently work in a different school.

Thank you.

Generally speaking yes the Gruffalo is too young for KS2.
I'd choose something that has a bit more depth to it, a bit of a message for the children to think about.

The colours of home and the journey that we've used in refugee week are both lovely, thought provoking books without being too long or complicated.

Also, There's a Ran-tan in my bedroom is about Palm oil and how it's destroying the Rain forest but it's a simple, rhyming book so a very easy read.

The Island by Armin Greder is a really thought provoking book to use with y6. There isn't a huge amount of text but the writing is interesting as are the pictures. You can do some work on inference with this book which would be good. Just check out first that it isn't a set book for y6.
