Taking parental leave

I've previously taken parental leave by adding it onto maternity leave.

I'm considering taking parental leave to enable us to go on holiday. I wouldn't ask on that basis but that's what I'd use it for. Has anyone else done this?

A colleague previously did this when they were leaving the school- and it was viewed a bit like gardening leave.

I do think, whilst you may be legally entitled to do this, you need to consider how it would "look" to your colleagues- particularly those who would end up covering for you. It depends if you care about that, though?
