Just a quick one - does anyone else’s family see the summer holidays as you doing nothing except running around after them? Because you’re not at work?

I have 3 (later years)teenagers who seem to think that me not being at work means that I can provide a 24/7 taxi service to anywhere in the country. I’m not doing it but aaaarrrrgggghhhh.

And I’ve not had my timetable for next year yet.

Rant over but feel free to add yours!

One of the other school mums noticed I wasn't using the holiday club and text to make sure everything was OK. I made the mistake of explaining I'm a teacher so don't need the holiday club...cue several parents hoping for a playdate. At my house. Whilst they work in their own house 🙄.

Yep, absolutely.

Dh only works 3 days a week so usually he does the food shop and larger share of laundry / cooking / cleaning. The school holidays appear to be a holiday for him since he treats his days off as a holiday day and I do everything else. It's a jolly nice break for him I'm sure.

And double yes to the teenagers thinking I am a maid-come-taxi service. I escaped to school for a few hours yesterday and left them a list of jobs!

I used to relish the school holidays when they were little - we had so much fun. Now they're constantly out, apart from when they're eating all the food, messing up the house and asking for lifts.

That feels better! 😆

@WedRine I actually had a CF parent say to me once, "You're a teacher; you must like looking after children" as she attempted to dump her daughter on me 😡

My SIL used to expect me to help her dc with their homework (bloody kumon maths) and entertain them when they came to visit, before we even had our own.
