What the heck TES!

Anyone else had this happen, saw a role I wanted to apply for, had a while to apply for the role, there was a generous deadline. Suddenly it vanished? Has it been taken down? I emailed the address listed this afternoon but of course heard nothing back!

I doubt this is a TES issue. More a school issue? Recruitment being what it is at the moment, I can imagine scenarios where this would happen.

(Head advertises role, then meets a strong supply teacher and asks if they want permanent? Teacher gets an interview, head advertises their job in advance, teacher doesn’t get it? Internal promotion?)

So strange! I went to visit the school, figured the deadline was set and I had mock marking to do so I’d apply straight after as it costs a lot to advertise as it was unlikely the date would change. Then it just vanished? Would the school have just pulled the advert then?

So frustrating as I really wanted to apply!

It doesn’t cost to advertise if they have a contract with TES. If you’ve visited, you presumably have a contact there? Call or email them to ask what happened?

Sorry. Missed the last bit of your question. Yes, if there’s no longer a job to apply for, they’d have pulled the advert.

Have you checked the school website? Is it still advertised there? (If so, maybe a TES error. If not, no job)

Well I emailed the head as I thought it’s worth asking regardless as I was mid draft on the quick apply section and poof it went. Unfortunately I had no response back her, maybe that’s because I sent it yesterday and it’s now the weekend so they probably have better things to do. The job was never advertised on the school website either.

I suppose I’m just annoyed at myself I should’ve been more decisive and quicker and I’ll probably regret missing this opportunity for years to come😂

Nah. Not worth regretting. Most applications come in on the last day of the deadline. The circumstances must have changed for them to pull it, so you wouldn’t have got it anyway.

That helps me process it actually. I got quite frustrated because I started thinking about what ifs. Considering I visited and really liked it hopefully me dropping the email would help if something next becomes available in future?

Yes. Definitely. Your email won’t have done any harm and you might find out what has happened.

Do you think you may have missed anything in the smallprint such as 'early applications are encouraged, we reserve the right to appoint before the application deadline'? I've seen that on quite a few vacancies before.

No there was nothing stated at all. Really kicking myself. No reply from the head so I’ll assume the worst. Not only that but they’ll probably have been inundated by emails so mine will now be totally ignored🤦‍♀️totally my fault.

It’s the weekend! Give them a chance…
