Return to work anxiety

Uuuuuurgh! 2 weeks off and it's time to go back already! Anyone else feel the overwhelming sense of dread?

I always feel like this on the first day back. I can never sleep! Anyone found any miracle cure for going back to work anxiety?

Me. I know I'll suddenly be awake at about 3am tossing and turning mulling over the million things I need to do, going around and around. I've worked loads over the holidays but still haven't got everything done and I have a reeeeeally tricky class who I am trying so hard with, but I'm dreading going back.

Sorry - no cure, just sympathy...

No idea how to fix it, but dreading tomorrow and this term. Feeling worse as I know I only have 6 weeks to find a new school for September before I have some kind of breakdown.

PumpkinPie2016 · 16/04/2023 20:27

No idea how to solve the problem either but I always get 'start of term nerves'. I am very lucky to be happy at my school but I still feel twitchy today. Sure I will have the back to work dreams tonight and be wide awake at some ridiculous hour 🙄

DH is also away tomorrow through to Tue night. It's only one night and my mum is doing school run to help me but I know I won't sleep well tomorrow either, I never do when alone.

I mentioned this on another thread about a quote that I saw which struck a chord with me:

'When you're anxious/overwhelmed, remember, one thing at a time, one hour at a time, one day at a time'

Doesn't always work but worth a go 😂

You can do it. There is a lot to choose from. Keep your eye on the prize which is your happiness.

A big hug to all my fellow teachers. Day one done!

I didn't sleep well at all. Very tried and teary tonight.

@namechangedyetagain there are lots of jobs about, I hope you find the perfect fit. :)

I also hope that someone has a magic wand and can dramatically reduce my work load.

I am also exhausted tonight. Lovely to be with my class but oh the behaviour. First day done though.

TortolaParadise · 17/04/2023 23:14

Well done everyone!

PumpkinPie2016 · 18/04/2023 21:24

Well done to everyone - 2 days done 🙂

I've had a good two days - so tired though 😴 but I didn't sleep great last night due to DH being away.

He's back now so should be fine tonight 🙂

Week 3 now and it is a short one. Keep going everyone, we will make it!

namechangedyetagain · 02/05/2023 07:30

Really short week then another long weekend coming up 😊

TortolaParadise · 31/05/2023 21:14

Enjoy the break everyone!
