Wanted to ask what you look out for when teachers apply for a vacancy?

how important is the personal statement?

would be grateful for any tips on how to make my application stand out.

I’m a HT.
The personal statement is the most important part of the application for me. It is the perfect opportunity for the candidate to express why they are the right person for the job. I’d be looking for the experience that you have, any highlights of track records and what skill set you have to be successful in role. If I am recruiting for a leadership position, whether that is a HoD or AHT or DHT then I’d be wanting to see more detail on whole school contribution. I would also state what your career aspirations are and mention that you feel that this role will provide me with further skills, experience and development to achieve that role.
One bit of advice is, don’t bullet point. Go into detail. There will most likely be 100s of other candidates, you got to stand out!

@good96 thank you so much for that. Ah I think i missed out on explaining career developments 😫 will write a paragraph on that and add to future applications. Thank you so much again.
