Hi all, would like some help with this.
Currently working in a small school on M5 with TLR and SEN allowance.
New job in a bigger mainstream school; should I settle for M6 only? This isn’t a special school and no TLR because no leadership is required. However, my subject is a shortage skill subject and they are struggling to hire for that subject.

There isn’t any incentive for me to switch as I would be out of pocket but I equally don’t want to be working for the same school forever. What should I do? Thanks

Can you afford to be out of pocket?
Do you want to change schools?
Would it be a backward step if you're in a TLR role already?
What do you want to gain from moving schools?

Thanks for your reply. Just wanted to experience mainstream as I have never done that before. I guess what I wanted to know was if I can ask for a UPS1 instead of M6. Thanks

Honestly if you like your school and are respected - stay there.

Unless you have inside knowledge the second school is a good one - i'd not risk it.

You can ask, of course, but whether you'd get it probably depends on what the school requires of UPS teachers?

In some schools, they'd definitely do it if they were struggling to recruit otherwise.

If you wouldn't take the job on M6 anyway, I don't think you have anything to lose by asking. But some schools would be offended and withdraw the offer.
