Unprofessional Head Teacher

I am currently being given the silent treatment by my HT because of an email I sent asking to meet with her to discuss something important. I got a very snotty reply and haven't been spoken to since.

I have now applied for a new job but am dreading the HT reaction when she finds out. A colleague got an interview at a new school and our HT slammed the office door in her face when she went to tell HT she needed time off to attend. HT also put up a Facebook post praising all staff except my colleague! When my colleague was successful in getting a new job our HT refused point blank to supply a reference.

I have now applied for a new job and am dreading the HT response if I get an interview, although as she's giving me the silent treatment maybe she won't react at all!

Are you in a union? This really sounds like one for them.

Alternatively, you could consider a grievance against the HT for the way she is treating you.

A polite “request for leave of absence” would be more professional than “went to tell the HT they need time off”! In practice heads almost always agree, but they don’t have to.
