Another interview one - reading

Class of mixed ability y3
i only have 25 minutes to read aloud and do an activity. Also being observed in my own school on a different day

I'm kind of stuck. Was thinking something inferencey? 25 minutes really isn't that long.

Any ideas? Thank you

Oof, inference is a tough one to go in on with Year 3 in my experience (I'm currently year 6 and even they struggle). What is the guidance you've been set for the interview? Any outcomes highlighted?

Only guidance is to read aloud and to show rapport, engagement and responsive teaching. 25 minutes.

Choose a picture book, without out too many words and go for inferencing and prediction.

I'm trying to think of a book that's a good read that they might not already know. Aaargh this is so hard. Do you think they'd expect a written outcome in 25minutes?

I don’t reckon there would be enough time for a written response of any length. It maybe could be more of an oral
reading lesson.

you could discuss connections with their own lives and other books they have read and how they make predictions based on what they know.

They could think/pair/share during the discussion. You could possibly use paired use of whiteboards to include writing?

Include some reading fluency activities such as echo reading. Choose a poem maybe so you can work on reading with expression too.
