No running hot water

Hello, looking for some experienced help please.

I am the admin of a place that rents space to a wraparound kids club. Our water heater was condemned yesterday, and the head of the club has informed me they can’t operate legally without hot running water. The cold water is running fine.

I am trying to sort a plumber urgently but trades in this area are booked out weeks ahead.

Anyone know whether the club can operate on 2-3 days of no hot running water in the loos? A week? How long is reasonable? They surely can’t have to close because the water heater is condemned and switched off?

They have a portable heater for their washing up etc. just no hot running water in the toilets.

Schools can't legally operate with no hot running water in the toilets- they'd have to close, even for a day.

I don't know if the same rules apply to other forms of childcare, but if they do, it's a legal requirement to have hot water for handwashing.

If it is registered as a food business, you do have to have hot (and cold) running water. If not, you’d need to close until sorted.

You cannot operate legally with hot water. Have you called EVERY plumber in the area? You might find that you’ll get one who’s willing to add in an extra job onto their day and given the type of business that you are, they might make it a priority.

I don't suppose any of the parents are plumbers? If they're at risk of having to take time off because the club is closed, they might manage to fit you in!
