How to change contract?

My official contract is full time. I've been on 0.8 for majority of this year and last year due to 5 being too much. My head teacher is supportive. I'm not sure what the official reason she's put for 4 days and didn't get a new contract or anything. She is leaving at Easter. I'm wondering where I stand? There was talk about me dropping to 3 days- which is what I want- and job share with a teacher returning from maternity. How does this work in practice? Do I need to resign and reapply or could the school just change my contract? I will chat to heads abd maybe union if needs be.

Do speak to your union, but the school can just change your contract- you do not have to reapply.

Make sure your current arrangement is also clearly in writing somewhere (even an email from the head will help) before she leaves!

You shouldn’t need to reapply. The head should just be able to change it. I’d get her to do it (and put it in writing!) before she leaves though.
