Safeguarding Entry

Have to keep this vague but need help.

Added an incident onto our school's online safeguarding software. I have had my access to the incident revoked, and my entry has been edited and a portion deleted by DSL (confirmed by colleague). NSPCC whistleblowing advice line say this doesn't meet the threshold for LADO.

Where next? Union?

You can ask why the edits were made. Ask the lead DSL for follow up feedback. Depending on what is said you may be clearer about what to do next.

I'm not really sure it's a union one, although do speak to your rep if you have concerns.

I do think asking why it has been edited is worthwhile.

Are the edits under your name? I would ask via email so you have a record showing edits were made.

Still under investigation at the moment.

There was no inference or assumption. Wording was changed and a portion of the incident was removed.

I know you’re being vague but:

If you’re mentioning LADO, then this could be this a concern about a staff member or volunteer. If it is, then certainly in our organisation this has to be reported separately and there is a separate process, so any records would be amended. Check the low level concerns policy or relevant section of your safeguarding policy.

If you’ve made a report about a child and a DSL has edited the entry, then whatever system will have logged this. Firstly professionally challenge and ask why, there may be a valid reason which they may or may not be able to disclose, if you are unhappy with the response and want to take it further then use the whistleblowing policy.
