As I’m a cover manager, and therefore classed as support staff, I’ve had a text from the NEU advising me that as only 46% of support staff voted, I can’t strike. I’m rather cross with my colleagues who constantly talk about how low paid we are but seemingly couldn’t be bothered to tick a box and do something about it. I’m emailed my rep for clarification as to whether I can refuse to cross a picket line. I hope that I can’t be compelled to!

Yes, I found that result disappointing too.

Yes.
My pay has more or less remained static since 2011 and yet I am more experienced and qualified.

Yes.
My working conditions are significantly worse than when I started in 2003 - when we would laugh in the staff room every day. Now, every inch of my time is allocated including mandatory ‘voluntary’ clubs.

The more I watched the result today - the angrier I got. Yes - it’s about time.

The culture is shocking.
