Strikes on non-working days

Hello all,

I don't work on Wednesdays and it seems that the majority of the strike days are going to be Wednesdays. I voted to strike so is it that I can only strike on my working days? Do we either have to strike all days or none? Presumably, even if I strike on the Thursday, my employer won't deduct anything for the Wednesday?

Thanks if anyone has any information.

I could be wrong as it's been a while but I think you can't withdraw your services on a day you aren't contracted to work when you are part time.

Thank you for replying, that's what I thought. Annoying to not make more of an impact but at least I won't lose as much money!

NEU definitely need to vary their strike days- I think only 2 dates have been announced so far, but hopefully they will vary them so part time staff can make an impact too.

In some cases, heads might ask part time staff if they will come in and cover, so at least you can say no to that? You can also join a picket line?

All dates are on bbc news.

I wish so many weren't Wednesdays. I have year 14 then. They should have spread them across the week

NEmama · 16/01/2023 21:16

@Postapocalypticcowgirl you're not allowed to cover for striking colleagues

Margo34 · 17/01/2023 10:47

@Postapocalypticcowgirl same here, none of the strike days are my working days. I intend to make sure there is no planning or resources left for the strike days and that they're blank on the timetable. Not sure there's much else to be done unfortunately.
