Interview shortlisting

I’ve applied for a position I’m currently doing on long-term supply. The closing date was this morning and the advert stated interviews will be next week - no specified date yet. I think a Friday deadline with interviews the following week is cutting it fine.

Would you expect to be contacted on the same day if you were shortlisted? I haven’t been. Or do you think they might contact me on Monday? Clutching at straws here. I think I know the reality though.

Is it not because the cut off point to hand notice in is the 31st October? So interviews will have to be next week? I've applied for a job this week, closing date today- interview (if successful!) next Friday. This will give time for the successful candidate to hand their notice in for a January start.

Also I wouldn't expect to hear anything until Monday at the earliest.

Monday

I wouldn't necessarily expect shortlisting to be done on the same working day as the advert closed. It takes a bit of time to look through everyone's applications and get input from all the relevant people. Depending on the number of people who have applied, the school may not even make a firm decision on how many people to shortlist until they see all the applications.

I have interviewed on a Friday having been notified on the Monday before- it is a tight ish turnaround, but if they want to recruit someone who has to give notice, it's really their only option.
