ORT - benchmark

We have ORT books in our class but I'm not sure on how to assess students levels accurately. We have never had any training on this aspect and were simply given cards for each level with some comprehension questions- recall inferential etc?

Is this way the correct way to do it? How do you assess ORT reading levels for new students?

Speak to your Year group colleague, or, if in a one form entry, your Head of Key Stage, or your Literacy Co-ordinator, or, if you are new, your mentor.
