Do your parents return them quickly or are you always chasing them like mine!
Also do you ever receive nice comments or do your parents store up nasty comments until the end of year !
Feel so deflated after reading the slips this week.

You’ve just reminded me that I totally forgot to return the ones for my own kids. Their reports were as expected, nothing I really wanted to communicate, and there’s always a question in there about how the report demonstrates the school’s Christian values which I never have the foggiest how to answer. I’d better send them back! I’d guess that the people who send them back are mostly the ones who are having problems and wanting to communicate - which would give a bit of a negative balance.

We don't do them anymore and life is better!

We don't do them at the school I work at - we have a drop in parent's evening after the reports go out but I don't know if we even did that this year. Ours went out pretty late anyway, and then there was an issue with printing in the year group I'm in, and two of the teachers were off site that afternoon so the whole year group had to wait until Monday - the last Monday of term.

This does remind me, though, that when I was going through all my own school reports (which my mum meticulously kept in a folder), I found the (signed) slip from my Y3 report which had never been returned to school!

Most don't get returned at my school. The ones that do are a mix of positive / thank yous and then the whingers who want to get their point across without any consequence as the year is over. Try to let them wash over you. Lots of parents have no idea! I didn't enjoy receiving negatives ones especially after working incredibly hard all year, sacrificing my own time to ensure the pupils got the best I could possibly offer. It's very demotivating isn't it but fortunately there are positive ones too.
