Heartbroken- didn't get the job

I interviewed Wednesday. It was a big deal job for me but I haven't heard back and I expect to get a letter in the post saying so in the morning. This will be the first time I have been turned down in this way and I am so gutted. I just wish they could have phoned and said so rather than making me so through days of watching my phone. Just posting for a handhold really. My DH has gone through some MH issues so we were looking to move back home and this school was going to be perfect. Now I have to stay where we are and he will work away for the week which is going to have all sorts of financial issues as well as causing a strain on our relationship as I will have to sort out the kids. Anyway I came here for a hand hold- I know because I haven't heard for so long I didn't get the job but it huuuurts

I'm so sorry that your situation is so difficult at the moment.

If you do receive a rejection letter then I think they have been incredibly rude to not call and let you know.

However, they may not have made a decision yet. I know it's unusual but it could be that they have taken longer than normal because something has come up.

I hope you get an answer soon!

Thank you for being lovely and replying. It has made me have a little weep. I needed a bit of sympathy as DH not able to give it at the moment. I keep mulling over what I did wrong in the interview. I had thought I had done really well but the longer I haven't heard the more I am second guessing every little thing I did. And wondering if there is still a glimmer of hope. It so horrid to be left like this- I would rather have just had the call. There were three other interviewees so it would be much more acceptable to have phoned to say that it was a strong field and someone was better suited rather than leaving me like this for days. I once got left waiting for two weeks whilst I was the second choice for a teaching job (I ended up getting it) so I keep hoping but it's killing me

They may have offered it to someone and be waiting for acceptance in order to let you know or offer you it
You won't have done anything wrong. 💐

I agree that no news suggests that you are not their first choice. But it isn't certain yet. I would be ringing them tomorrow. Be proactive, show how much you want it. If their first choice says no, make yourself second choice. Be remembered if another job comes up. Get feedback that might end up being useful. We created a job for someone who was a close second.

Thanks, I may do that.
