How does a TTO + 4 week contract work?

In terms of the additional four weeks that I’d work (in the holidays), would I get to choose when these four weeks are, or would they be directed?

Depends on the school and the role, something you would definitely have to ask as none of us can give you a definitive answer without knowing where and what the job is. For so e of our staff in similar contracts the extra work is completely fixed, for others totally flexible.

In my school, it very much depends on the role and staff always have some degree of flexibility on the dates. For example, our finance team are TT + 3 weeks, and they are required to be in school at some point during the Easter break due to the end of the financial year and for some time over the summer, normally the beginning and end, so that invoices can be paid etc.

Our HR manager comes in to do payroll and the sixth form officer needs to be in school after the results days so that they can assist with clearing and sixth form enrolment.

Other admin staff who are TT+, come in as agreed with their line manager, but they have more flexibility over the dates.

My sister has no say unless it is booked as AL, so it really does depend on the school
