I've done it! I've resigned!

I handed in my resignation on Friday, after 20 years of teaching! I have nothing else lined up yet, but knew could not carry on in that crazy profession anymore. I am sad to be leaving the classroom, but cannot cope with all the other demands.
No clue where my life is going next! I am going to start looking for jobs today.
Has anyone else done something so mad? How did things turn out for you?

While it's very sad that the profession is losing an experienced teacher - well done you!

It's a brave move to make.

My husband left teaching a few years ago with nothing lined up. He set up his own gardening business and is doing great! I still teach so we have my income as a secure income but honestly, you manage with what you have.

It's been great as he can fit his work around our 8 year old son which means he can take him to school/pick him up. Obviously, I have the holidays at home with him too and DH can organise his jobs so that we can go away/do a trip out if we want.

You'll find your way when you're ready. Good luck!

Hold your head up as you travel the path ahead!

I've also resigned, but do have a non-teaching job to go to. Feel like I've jumped off a cliff! But definitely the right decision.

Astuz- what's your new job? I'm just starting to look.

Too outing to say, but the bulk of my work will involve computer programming/data analysis.

I left teaching December - started a non teaching role in January. Honestly wish I'd done it sooner my life is a million times better. Good luck and don't look back!

YingMei Do you mind my asking what you're doing now? I'm not sure which direction to go in!
