Is anyone else marking exams this year? How are you finding the support offered by your board?

I’ve not had a payslip this year yet and have finished my quota and done extra.

It was suggested you mark 20 scripts as practice, alongside standardisation etc, I wish I had kept a record of the hours I had worked to see if it’s above minimum wage.

They're not emailing the payslips any more. You have to log in to get them.

ChiselandBits · 19/07/2022 19:47

I've had numerous issues this year at home and not sure I am going to hit 50% let alone 70. Will I get paid for what I have done? And if so, does anyone know when? AQA GCSE marking - thanks

Yes you will. I don't know why this rumour abounds... you get paid for what you've done. It won't be yet though. The trigger depends on the paper but you will get the money. Just make sure you've kept the person above you informed.

JaffavsCookie · 19/07/2022 21:10

If you don’t hit the first trigger then ( in my subject anyway) you get paid after results day. I would urge you to try and finish though, you have signed a contract to do it ( I know that might sound a bit heartless but I have seen folk every year fail to complete when other people could have been offered the contract)

MrsHamlet · 19/07/2022 21:33

@ChiselandBits have you asked to have your allocation reduced? That would definitely help you and the marking panel... and there's no shame in doing that.

cherrypiepie · 19/07/2022 21:42

@ChiselandBits don't feel bad about not completing but I'd email them and say so so they can see how many they have left and project.

Every year people withdraw for so many reason one year I was I'll with hayfever so bad I couldn't breath. I was so embarrassed. It Might be a bereavement, sick child, mental health problem. So please don't judge those who cannot finish a quota- I'm sure no one would take a contract and not intend to finish it. Anyway rant over.

I think I got paid the day after results day. You will get paid. But after results day.

ChiselandBits · 19/07/2022 23:58

Thank you that's really helpful. I don't think I'm taking up a contract someone else could have had..they were still asking for markers for my subject v late. It's been a combination of things ..single parent, full time work and the kids have taken it in turns to have various issues that means I just haven't had any sort of uninterrupted time. It's my first year doing it so took me a while to get the hang of it too. Appreciate the info.

MrsHamlet · 20/07/2022 10:16

Honestly please speak to your TL. There are all sorts of things we can do to help if we know there's an issue.

ElegantPuma · 20/07/2022 14:06

Reiterating that you must talk to your TL if you are experiencing difficulties with completing your allocation. They may well suspect, anyway, as people tend to go silent / not respond to emails when there are problems.

ChiselandBits · 20/07/2022 15:13

Oh she's well aware, I've been keeping her in the loop

ToadiesCouzin · 20/07/2022 19:03

There's loads and loads of threads on Twitter about late payment by AQA. Has anyone who has marked for them actually been paid on time, or nearly on time? I was expecting payment before we go on holiday next week, when we really need the money, but now I'm not particularly hopeful. I have no payslips showing in iTrent yet.

MrsHamlet · 20/07/2022 19:04

Yes

WibblyWobblyLane · 20/07/2022 19:13

I got an email last week asking for me to fill my bank details in itrent but I did that back in May! They still haven't responded asking what else they needed, just a very generic FAQ email.

They've also sent me an email today asking to take on more and if they'd asked me earlier I would have, but 1 week turnaround when I'm at end of year burnout is a no.

Smokealarmwakeup · 20/07/2022 23:52

I know this, I don’t have any payslips on itrent. I should have gotten my first payslip 3 weeks ago and another each week after.

I stopped marking the additional because I’m half expecting them to only pay for my quota and claim there is no record of the rest.

Butterfly94 · 21/07/2022 19:41

Just seen my payslip..is it 20% tax? As I should have been taxed £204.80 for a total of £1,024.10, but I've been taxed £264.60..is this right? And will they send me a letter about the pension, as I want to opt out!

MrsHamlet · 21/07/2022 20:47

You'll have had or will get an email about the pension.
You'll be taxed at whatever rate is appropriate to your circumstances, which is probably the basic rate.

WhiteWriting · 22/07/2022 14:40

I've had a total litany of disaster after spending a month A-Level marking. I finally got my first payslip. They have put me on emergency tax/taken two different pension amounts and left me £400 out of pocket. When you call you get an impotent customer services rep who can only log and promise a call back. Disgusting treatment.

BugsInTheBed · 22/07/2022 15:19

My tax wmail never got a reply but hmrc emailed me andnit was paid back to me from AQA the following week so 🤞

BitterTits · 22/07/2022 19:01

I've opted out of the pension, can't remember who was asking. I'd rather make AVCs into TPS.

Lucyben14 · 23/07/2022 19:25

Hi all,
Does anyone know how I can make a complaint about my Team Leader? There are no obvious email addresses, phone numbers etc

Smokealarmwakeup · 24/07/2022 21:43

I’ve been paid £360. For working every night for 4/5 hours for two weeks, it isn’t worth it as far as I’m concerned so won’t be doing it again. I’ve worked out that every 6 questions I got a seed, I never failed a seed throughout my marking so it feels unfair that I got so many. I got less than minimum wage, that’s before the online training, standardisation and the practice papers they made me do.

Phineyj · 24/07/2022 22:10

It's not worth it for me either. The pay is insulting!

BugsInTheBed · 25/07/2022 12:40

I did okay - I got 1k and as I have had a low earning year kept the tax so actually got 1k. I dont want to work out the hourly rate though...

TrevorShawcross · 23/11/2022 10:58

how do you know which are seeded? any clues

ButterflyBiscuit · 23/11/2022 11:54

The first handful will be to check accuracy then the seeds are random - you aren't supposed to know which ones they are but sometimes they repeat!
