How long do contracts take?!

I verbally accepted a job a week ago. I'm extremely impatient Grin

I have yet to receive anything at all in writing. No letter or anything. No contract. I'm getting nervous. I emailed the school today but no response yet.

How long do contracts take? I need it before I hand in my notice.

Argh!

Ages and ages in schools in my experience - like months after you start the job. Sorry!

Oh nooooo! Well I will have to hand in my notice regardless then as I'm not risking not being able to leave!

I normally find that offer letter is fairly quick, but contracts can take months

I've had no offer letter and it's worrying me. Surely if there was a problem they would tell me? It's been just over a week since they offered it.

Primary or secondary? I'm primary and have never had an offer letter. Everything is verbal.

Same here - the offer letter / email is, in my experience, quite quick to come soon after the offer has been made verbally, though the contract itself can take longer. In my current post, I had to do a bit of chasing of the HR department over several weeks before I received anything resembling a contract.

Look up the Good Work Plan, introduced in 2018 as a government directive. You should get a contract no later than your first day in the job.

Poor form not to issue an offer letter!

Offer letter is usually quick with contract following later.

If you haven't heard by early next week, can you ring and politely ask about a written offer letter. Explain that you need to resign but need the written confirmation first.
