Hiding pregnancy symptoms at work?

I just found out I'm pregnant! I'm so pleased as we've been trying since the start of the summer. However now I'm so anxious about getting pregnancy symptoms at work. I'm just over 4 weeks and from what I've heard I will likely be getting bad nausea quite soon.

How do I hide this at school? I'm not ready to tell my colleagues yet, but what if I have to leave the classroom to throw up? Also - I only have a TA 4 mornings a week and I'm on my own the rest of the time. What do I do if I have to leave the room to throw up, I can't leave the children alone, they're KS1. Help! How did you do it?

I had hyperemisis and no TA, it often resulted in throwing up into a bin outside my classroom 🤢

A friend used to throw up in the sink in her room. Some days she said she basically hovered near the sink most of the day. The kids (EYFS) didn't bat an eyelid.
However, she did have to confide in the rest of the EYFS staff.

Congratulations! You might be lucky and not be sick. Or you might be unlucky and be unwell enough to be signed off.

I had HG twice and was signed off for about a month the first time (not teaching), wasn't working when I had the youngest but was incapacitated-now I teach and there is no way I could have managed in the classroom, especially when I was on a drip!

Hope you stay well, but if you do have bad sickness, make sure you look after yourself first.

Congratulations! I had no choice but to tell slt and certain colleagues immediately as I started being sick straight away. I had a system where if I sent a blank post it to the office someone would come immediately to cover me.

Lots of people don’t get nausea. Chances are you’ll be one of them.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
