As the title says, which union is the most appropriate for admin support staff please?

I joined Unison. The support depended on who was dealing with my query - it varied from excellent to awful!

Unison. Were great when I needed them and supported me in meetings. Would definitely recommend them and definitely recommend joining a union when working with children or arsehole bosses .

I joined the NEU, they have a support staff section

NEU are now open to support staff. I'd recommend considering which is the largest union in your school - if most staff are NEU members you will be stronger with them, if most are Unison then they are stronger, etc.

I was with unison and found them useless but that was over ten years ago. I agree with PP, it’s easier to go with the majority at your school.

I'd recommend NEU to anyone working in a school. We were able to challenge outsourcing of cleaners due to nearly all staff threatening strike action at our school a couple of years ago. It makes the union so much more powerful if everyone is part of the same union.

I would go with what other support staff are in. Everyone in my school except the cleaners are NEU.

NEU has by far the most members at our school, then it's NASUWT (which is teachers only) and has about half the numbers of NEU.
