One year contract and pregnant

Hi I’d be very grateful if anyone could share knowledge & experiences of what happens when you are in a one year contract and become pregnant.

It’s apparently normal in my school to start staff on a one year contract and many stay one this for years. I reluctantly accepted and am now pregnancy and due date is mid-July.

Spoken to two most senior staff and both have asked when I’ll be back so assume the job is still mine.

What I’m not sure about is maternity pay? My contract ends end of august this year, due date about 6 weeks before.

Any ideas what I’ll be entitled to? TIA

Speak to HR or Headteacher. If they weren’t going to be renewing it you would probably have heard by now. I’m not sure what the current rates of Mat pay are now. Congratulations!

Will you have been there a year by your due date? Did you have a contract with the same employer before this year as that will all affect your work maternity pay, you would still get statutory maternity pay or maternity allowance probably if you didn't qualify for workplace maternity.
