Managing time

Hi all. Does anyone have any strategies for better time management? I’m a full time working teacher and mum and i’m always working at weekends. It’s exhausting and I'm missing out on time with my family. It’s been like this for years. I have a leadership role as well so the workload is pretty full on which I understand but every single Sunday i’m sat here planning.

Hi,
Are you primary or secondary?

Nicmummyteacher · 16/01/2022 14:10

I’m primary

I'm secondary so it's a bit different, but I go in early, stay as late as childcare allows after school. Work all my lunch breaks. I try to make PowerPoints of all the work I do so that I can re-use a lot of it when needed.
I know that a lot of that will be different for you but I wanted you to know you aren't alone!

Thank you for your reply. I spend my lunch breaks marking, a lot of my after school time is either mentor meetings for my ECT, middle leaders meetings and staff meetings and then I try and get as much of my planning done in my ppa there just never is enough time to get stuff done. It’s been worse since lockdown. No rest for the wicked

I personally prefer to work at the weekends rather than late into the night during the week. Unfortunately it seems to be one or The other....
I'm in school 8-6 Monday to Friday and then about 4 hours on a Sunday. The only thing that makes it bearable is to start at 6 on a Sunday (not too difficult with a child who wakes at 5.30 every day!) then my work is done by 11 and I still have a day left to do housework relax.

I'd manage my time much better if I didn't waste so much of it on Mumsnet Grin. I should be marking right now!
