Right turn around times?

Daft question but I've applied to a school near me and the closing date is Thursday with Interviews "early" next week. It is a desirable school.

How are they getting references etc sorted and reading applications and sorting the interview that quickly? I wondered if they perhaps had a candidate already lined up but my friend who works there says not.

I know nobody can possibly know but would anyone like to speculate?!

Title should have read "tight turn around time"

They will have the timetable for the interview day already sorted, the sift will be done on the Thursday after the closing time ( we usually say by noon on the closing date and sift that afternoon.) Quite often, we do a preliminary sift as the applications come in, looking at the criteria and whether the application matches and sift out the " no hopers". Then email invites will be sent out that day, together with reference requests. We usually get references back the following day, so probably on the Monday, if not we will chase and get verbal confirmation there are at the minimum no safeguarding or disciplinary issues. Then interview the Tuesday. , decision made that day, phone call to candidates and usually sorted by around 7 that evening!

Wow that's amazing! I had no idea it could be done so quickly!
