Part-time help

Name change as extremely outing. I'm a fairly new teacher (2 years) and due to personal health reasons I have asked to go part-time from full-time. It was agreed I would work Monday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Friday for continuity with the other person job sharing. However, I have been told today I will be working Tuesday - Thursday so missing out on 8 days Bank hol a year. I don't know if the bank hol thing makes a difference as they all fall in the holidays. Could anyone help me with this? I am probably being really dense here...

I work Tuesday-Thursday and the only bank holiday I actually miss out on is the early May one, as all the rest fall in the school holidays anyway!

Bare in mind also that any INSET days which fall on a Monday or Friday, you can't be asked to come in for them unless paid or paid in lieu ie a working day swapped or another day taken off instead.

It's all swings and roundabouts in the end!

Thank you so much that is helpful to know that those dates don't impact the BH.

Oh I'd quite like Tuesday - Thursday. It would allow you to go away for a long weekend.

Those are the best days I think for a 3 day week.
As PP says- you only 'lose' one bank holiday and that's May Day.
The rest are in the holidays anyway.
Long weekends are now so much easier for you to get away on too.

I hope you find this works for you.

I would quite like Tuesday to Thursday too. This year I have Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. I don't mind having a "trapped" day (Tuesday) because today I have done a big food shop, some home admin and cut the grass (I know it's January but it was really long). I love having long weekends!

I know someone who referred to themselves as a TWaT because they worked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 😂. It's good if you want a long weekend. I've done those days in the past, bank holidays not such an issue but I prefer working a Monday if given a choice. I like inset days and knowing what happens in briefing.
