Interview for Middle Leader position

Hello,

I've managed to get an interview for a Middle Leader position. I wanted to ask for some help as it's a bit out of my remit. Its about collecting data on post 16 students. If anyone would be able to chat to me to share some wisdom, I would be really grateful. Thank you!

Anyone got any ideas?

What's the actual role doing? Collecting data on post 16 seems a bit nebulous. Are you expected to analyse/suggest interventions based in it or just present it to SLT?

At the very least you'll need to find out what data system the school uses SISRA and ALPS are two we have used and have a look at that.

Does collecting the data lead to something like intervention?

Thank you for replying. You're right. It is very vague but I think it's on purpose to see what we come up with. They have literally just one line on this in the spec and it's what are you going to collect and how are you going to collect it. I will check out what you suggested, thank you.

Thank you for replying. There's no guidance other than how, what and what you need to collect. I've written in my presentation short term and long term. How the data is useful etc and the role goes hand in hand with careers, work experience etc and the 8 gatsby benchmarks. I just have no idea if this is the right thing I should be talking about! Realistically I think the role will be as big as I want to make it but it's a 2 part role so perhaps I would be over seeing rather than organising. I'm not sure!

I’d be slightly concerned - jobs with next to no job description don’t always go well. My TLR doesn’t have a description and so I get all the grunt work no one else wants. It’s been open to SLT abuse for longer than I’m happier to admit!

@DenbyChina, I agree with you! But I really do want to take that step into middle management.
