Just in time for the Christmas break. As it's the holidays we're allowed chairs and everything. I believe even buffets are permitted currently? No going to see Bond films though obviously.

'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

Dolly that's crazy your term goes right up to today. I'm on my third day off and vaguely approaching a Christmassy feeling now... Hope you are released at lunchtime.

ChloeDecker · 23/12/2021 13:21

Only a few more hours to go Dolly!

Checking in here as I've completed my Christmas Eve shopping, very significant as it involves seafood. I picked it up at the shop at 6.30.a.m. Christmas Eve (today), packed it it cold carriers full of frozen bottles of water and camping freeze blocks, stuffed it in the boot of the car wrapped in a wool blanket , backed in into the shade art the railway car park, and went off to do my museum guide stint.

This is life as the sole provider of food and the Christmas event. God I miss my late and lovely DH. Smile

Seven hours later picked it all up and now in the beer fridge. The seafood, not me, though it's close draw.

If you don't hear from me again, it didn't work and I am seafood deaded. :o 🦐🦪

MrsHamlet · 24/12/2021 05:49

You can't be seafood deaded so soon after finishing working. That would be unreasonable.

ChloeDecker · 24/12/2021 08:16

Wine Here’s to your late DH, echt

My DH proposed to me 12 years ago on Whitsunday beach on Christmas Day and I will always remember the heavenly Christmas lunch of fresh seafood. Enjoy!

echt · 24/12/2021 08:53

Thank you, Chloe and Mrs H.

We always have the Christmas lunch devised by my DH, and not just because he did it, but it's also fab. Other threads have asked about traditions and while never articulated such, I loved the unvarying Christmas and Boxing Day food of my parents.

DH and I had deckers traditions, though I have pared them back, not least because in my house, you don't have the hall and corridor to walk down (and therefore decorate) that you have in the Edwardian houses of London. It's all full on the minute you get in the door in my glorified beach shack. Less work, I can tell you.: Xmas Grin

I'm putting up deckers and the nativity set, listening to Upstart Crow's Christmas Carol.

A lovely 21C predicted for Christmas Day. Perfick/Ripper.

The merriest of Christmases to all my MN teacher comrades.

noblegiraffe · 24/12/2021 09:26

Sounds like a lovely day, echt, enjoy your seafood and have a great Christmas!

MrsHamlet · 24/12/2021 09:36

If you like, Echt, I'll pop over one year and scrutinise your decorations :)

chocolateisavegetable · 24/12/2021 12:31
