TA interview advice

Morning all.

The title says it all really. I have an interview today for a TA position at a local primary and was looking for some hints/tips/things to expect please, as this is my first time going for the role.

I'm not completely new to education, as I have a strong Early Years background, but appreciate that this is a whole new ball game for me!

I've tried to think of examples from my current role that would apply to this one (e.g. behaviour management, working with SEN etc.) and have refreshed myself on safeguarding and British Values.

Wise members of the Staff Room, am I missing anything please?

Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you’re well prepared. You will definitely be asked about safeguarding (remember it is everyone’s responsibility so make that clear as well as mentioning DSL etc)

Good luck Flowers

Sorry I didn't see this in time. Hope it went well Smile

I didn’t see this in time either! Hope it went well. I had a similar interview last week and got the job. Good luck

Hi all.

Thank you all for your kind messages.

Well, all went well. I spent the first 20 minutes thrown in a classroom and loved every second and think I kept my cool for the interview component afterwards.

As PP said, safeguarding did come up...and in case anyone in the future stumbles across this thread, there were questions around behaviour management and what I would do in a situation where I disagreed with the teacher's practice.

Delighted to say I got the phone call today offering me the job!

Many congratulations!

Congratulations!! What year will you be working in?

dumbledory · 29/12/2021 17:56

My apologies - I thought I had updated on here.

I believe I'll be working with the Year 1 class, which is perfect, as only slightly older than the age group I have experience with.

Thank you all for your kind words. :)
