Anybody else only lasted a term before?

I started at a new school in September as HOY. Very experienced and have always been successful in that role but the new place is unbearable. I'm not ready to leave teaching yet but this isn't the right school for me at all for lots of different reasons. Has anybody else left a new school really early on before?

I haven't but I know people who have and it's been totally fine.

Some schools just don't suit some people.

No, but I wish I had. If you know it’s not for you, start looking for a new role asap.

I lasted half a term in a school where the HOD was a narcissistic bully and made my life a complete misery. I didn't know I was leaving teaching then but it was 10 years ago and I have no desire to go back.

If it is unbearable, then I totally recommend looking for an out. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. Im still in my probation period so I won't be going back after Christmas as I only have to give a months notice. My so called team have made my life hell in such a short space of time and it's plunged me in to the worst depression I've ever experienced. I'm so angry about it and there just isn't any alternative support available to me Sad
