CO2 monitors

Does anyone else think there’s a massive scam going on with the government and CO2 monitors? They’ve spent £25 million pounds on CO2 monitors for classrooms and are now supplying air purifiers. Our CO 2 monitors arrived a few weeks ago and all our rooms showed low CO2 levels. Today, several of them are showing high levels, even in the playground - it’s a rural school with very little traffic. I had a couple of spare monitors so I got them out and they are showing low levels, so I literally have two monitors side by side with one saying everything’s fine and the other is off the scale. So my first point is that they are clearly completely unreliable. Secondly, considering they cost about £30, £25 million would buy over 800,000. There aren’t that many classrooms in the country. Thirdly, if I believed my monitors I’d be phoning the government for air purifiers, which, coincidentally, they were advertising today.
Someone is making a massive profit out of selling this stuff to the government. It’s got to be a massive, government backed scam hasn’t it?

Maybe you’re correct, but are you imagining that the govt has somehow remotely made the first tranche of them show high levels in the last day or so? I don’t quite understand.

800,000/24,360 = ~33

Most secondaries have more than 33 classrooms so yes, there could easily be that number of classrooms in the country.

Although actually they said secondaries, FE and primaries, didn’t they?

We've all been discussing this at school this week and agree @RegentsParkWolf. Someone's making a lot of money out of it, just as they are with LFTs.

Have you seen how much the air purifiers and filters cost as well? Absolute scam - so school can afford to buy them on already tight budgets!
