NPQ Qualifications - worth it?

Hi,

I signed up to an NPQML course in leading teacher training at the end of last term. I was encouraged to do so by SLT as I have responsibility in this area.

The course began a few weeks ago while I was on paternity and having now had the chance to log in and look at the course outline I don't know if I can realistically do it. The number of hours you need to give to it is insane considering I work full time and have a family. More to the point, is it even worth the countless hours of reading page after page of dull framework, DFE documents and case studies?

Has anyone completed this kind of course and able to suggest whether its worth it in any capacity?

If you are serious about the CPD and want to continue to develop your career, yes it's worth it. If you don't find developing in this manner beneficial, then others who do so will likely reap the benefits. Your priorities are your own. The NPQs are fairly rigorous, valuable qualifications in my experience.

Is it the NPQLTD? There are no NPQMLs any more.

Who is your provider? Is the material actually dull or is it just a lot?

How are you finding the programme (assuming you continued), I’ve just had some adverts pop up for it on Facebook and it’s caught my interest. I’ve just finished AdVanced Teacher Status (through SET), although I have a resubmission to do over Xmas and the demands and structure of that I found quite difficult - there wasn’t much support or clear structure to it, so whilst I’m keen to develop my career further I don’t want to jump in to the wrong thing and end up stressed because of the workload and lack of support.

I did npqml, finished it in February this year. Don't think it's life changing tbh.
