I would strongly recommend doing a course to help you understand autism. His social difficulties and communication difficulties will shift and change as he gets older and the challenges that he faces change, so he may present behaviour that he hasn’t done when he was younger. His physical and verbal outbursts could be linked to sensory difficulties. You need to look for ways to understand what is causing him distress, and research strategies to support him. What does the SENCo say at your school?

What training have you had ?
What support have you been given to help understand his needs?
What strategies have been suggested by your LA Autism support Team ?
What is on the "How" part of the IEP / Support Plan / whatever it is called in your school....... or does he have an EHCP ? What does it say on there ?

What are you and other staff doing to prevent him becoming physical or verbally abusive? So helping him to 'not get to that point' rather than issuing consequences when he gets there ?
