In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 67th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from thread 66.
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

A doctor pointing out that the models of infections dropping in Nov would only be because all kids have been infected by then….

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2021 13:14

Yes, I see that has been revived on Twitter. This is the DD that I taught (allegedly).

Interesting to also read on that thread that Richard Madeley is an Us4Them supporter and was one of the signatories on the original letter sent to Gav last year. Pretty damning to have him interview Dr Khan or anyone on tv to be honest!
Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2021 18:47

Why is Madeley even still a thing??

That's the doctor who does the 'how to conduct a PCR test' videos for the government that are linked to from their leaflets so not any random doctor either.

Thanks, Jan, have just reposted on my thread about antivaxxers injuring children... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4384210-Idiot-anti-vaxxers-could-be-banned-from-school-gates-following-injuries-to-children

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 12:20

75% of heads reported being targeted by anti vaxxers.

Co-founder of Oak Academy appointed as adviser to Naz

Another white male...Teach First too.

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:22

Well , what a surprise.

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:22

They seriously are all going to 'advise' that white privilege isn't a thing, too....

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:24

Just read the article

a) he looks 12
b) he already speaks like a DfE spokesperson! :-

*As we build back from the pandemic it’s never been more important to make sure all young people leave schools and colleges having received a world class education, regardless of their background or where they’re from.

“That’s why I’m proud and pleased to be bringing my experience in schools to this role.*

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:26

c) he has seven years teaching experience. SEVEN. Some of them in The Jane Austen Academy which has had a distinctly rocky inception and reception.

On a side note, Bedford Free School are seeking a new head. Again. Not sure where current white male is going.

noblegiraffe · 26/10/2021 13:27

I was going to say that he looks 12 too! Grin (no offence to Herc who looks at least 16)

I'm hoping Naz being an ethnic minority might help, but he's hardly surrounding himself with diversity.

noblegiraffe · 26/10/2021 13:28

Is the current head still Stuart Locke? I don't know because he has me blocked on twitter.

ChloeDecker · 26/10/2021 13:30

Meanwhile, us ‘plebs’ sorry, women carry on doing the real work.

Won’t for much longer though, if all we get are headlines about the govt looking for better teachers.
How about acknowledging all the teachers who stick at the job rather than those that get out of the classroom as quick as they can, eh?!

ChloeDecker · 26/10/2021 13:33

Those #edutwitter folk sure do like blocking everyone.

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:34

No, he's exec principal. Head is another 12 year old. Tim Blake, bless him. Very posh.

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2021 13:42

This Thomas guy doesn't have a maths degree btw noble. PPE Oxford (natch) double first. Always destined to leave the classroom faster than you can say Jack Robinson.

JanglyBeads · 26/10/2021 14:12

Do you have to wear crinolines in The Jane Austen Academy?!

JanglyBeads · 26/10/2021 14:13

Oh please excuse me, I meant empire line muslins rather than crinolines
🙀

MrsHamlet · 26/10/2021 14:14

7 years. Ffs. I have footwear with more classroom experience

phlebasconsidered · 26/10/2021 14:30

When I applied for my pgce at IOE WAY back, they encouraged me to also apply gor some fast track thing or other as I was older and coming from the private sector. Anyway, as they would pay hour fees i did.

The final interview was a weekend of hideous made up team management tasks. There was only one other woman. All the rest were boys straight from Oxgord, Cambridge or Durham. I didn't get in and was frankly unsurprised as by the end of the weekend I was there for the buffet and struggling to remain civil in the management "tasks". My resting bitchface /sarcastic eyebrow was in overdrive.

Think it was called fastrack or something.
