How is AP teaching considered by mainstream?

Considering moving into AP since I enjoy working with challenging kids. Just wondering how easy it would be to return to mainstream afterwards? How are AP teachers perceived? Would this enhance my CV or be viewed as a minus?

I would see it as a positive. I’ve worked in special schools and mainstream. I have never noticed anything other than respect for special school/ AP teachers from mainstream teachers.
