Leaving at Christmas

Career suicide?

I only joined the school in January. There have been issues regarding my role since the start. I was ready to go in May but was talked into staying with promises that have not materialised. On the basis that they were being addressed I thought I could stick it out until July for the sake of my CV.

I am having big issues with my MH which are being exacerbated and I can’t see how I can even get through the year at the moment.

How big a no no is it to leave mid year? (SEN role). My CV is checkered to say the least after various breaks kids and covid.

Do I have to find a way to stick it out? Or would I get another chance if I walk?

It depends on your area but personally I would leave. Your mental health is too important.
My CV is terrible! Loads of breaks, changes etc but I got a new job very easily. (Switched to independent school and it’s great.)

Your health is more important than your CV or any job. If leaving will make you healthier, leave.

I am leaving at Christmas. I have been considering it since Easter but hoped to stick out another year.

Over summer I managed to build up my confidence and positivity and these past 2 weeks have got me at rock bottom again.

Just do whats best for you.

I've only left 2 jobs, but left one at Xmas and one at Feb half term. Was fine.

I am leaving my job at Christmas. I've only been in this school since September but it's not really the school, I'm just done with teaching and I want to get out completely. There's never a good time to leave so go when you want.
